Quercus ilex

Foraged in Borghese Gardens in Rome, the circular shape of the acorn resembles the Pantheon ceiling. Holly oak was revered through history for its wood and symbolism. The Romans used its strong and durable wood for carts and wheels, while in ancient Greece many parts of the tree were perceived to have a special meaning or a purpose. The acorn itself was seen as a symbol of fertility, often turned into jewelry and worn to assist with conception.

Properties: certain types of holly are used for medicinal purposes. They are utilized to combat issues such as digestive maladies, rheumatism, fever, high blood pressure and more.
